The love of your life asked you to be their person for the rest of their life and you said YES!! Now to plan your perfect wedding. Quickly that day of blissful happiness can become an overwhelming list of to dos and checklists.
You have to choose the date, venue, theme, attire, rings, guest list, officiant, photographer, bridal party, the food and THE CAKE!!!
Picking your perfect wedding cake doesn't have to be complicated but there are some steps that are important to follow. There is more to it to picking up a sheet cake at your local shop.
Inspiration- This is your wedding not your cake artist's, so we need to know what you have in mind. The easiest way to do that is to gather inspiration photos. Whether you find the picture perfect cake or different elements pictures are key. Pinterest will be your best friend!!
Know your theme- Having a theme or your style sorted out before your consultation will help your artist to refine your inspiration to fit your day.
Know the Process- A wedding cake is more than just something sweet to have after your vows. It is a special creation made just for you and you should be aware of the process such a creation takes. First you need to find a cake artist with a portfolio that speaks to you, make contact with as much information as possible especially your date and size of your wedding. Second it is important to have a budget in mind, you may want that 6 tier cake dripping with crystals but your bank account may not. Different artists will have different price points based on experience and other
factors but remember you are paying for their time and talent so be mindful of not
only your bottom line but also their worth. Third set up a consultation and/or tasting, this is the important time where you sit down with your cake artist and hone in on all the details. This is also often when a deposit will be due to secure your date. It is a chance for us to get personal, get to know you and hear about your love story, we love to get to know our clients and hey you get to eat cake. Finally you will have your final head count check in. This is where you get in contact with your artist after your RSVPs are in to confirm your final headcount and any final details. The rest is just enjoying your day and slice of something sweet.
It Doesn't have to be cake- Cheesecake, Cupcakes, Pie, Doughnuts, Cake Pops, fruit shaped like cake your imagination is the limit. Remember it is your day, have what you like. My husband and I had pies, and they were epic.
It's all about you- This is the most important thing to remember!! This day is about you and your partner, not everyone else. So that means stay true to the two of you, if you want blueberry then have blueberry even if an Aunt doesn't like it. So often I see couples who get caught up in trying to make everyone else happy and their opinions get lost. Stay true to you two!!!! Have fun it is your DAY!!!!
